Enfants du Mékong is a non-governmental organization which aim is to help poor children in South-East Asia. Enfants du Mékong works in Cambodia since 1991, in Banteay Meanchey and other provinces.
In Banteay Chmar, Enfants du Mékong support children from poor families by bringing them to school and by offering a financial support to their families. The children are supported in elementary school and high school, and then get the opportunity to continue their studies somewhere else at university or vocational training.
In Enfants du Mékong scholar centre in Banteay Chmar, about 120 children daily follow courses like Khmer, Mathematics, Physics, Chimistry, English and Biology, in addition to the courses in public school. 50 of them live in 4 bording houses where they enjoy free accommodation and extra-curricular activities.
The working team in Banteay Chmar is composed of 4 people: 2 French volunteers, responsible of the center, and 2 social workers. Enfants du Mékong is currently looking for qualified candidate to fill the position below.
- Social Worker
- Assist the administration and management of the scholar center
- Administrative tasks of the scholar center (classes schedule, control the presence, recruit new teachers…)
- Organization of monthly tests and organization of “support classes” for the weakest students
- Give orientation advice and follow-up the students in the skills and job orientation
- Maintain and ensure the proper functioning of the library, the toy library
- Help to manage the 4 kindergarten schools, and the logistic of the scholar center and the boarding houses
- Assist the management of the foster houses, and be responsible of one foster house
- Be responsible for a foster house, live there and share their meals (accommodation for free)
- Make sure that the students live in a healthy, balanced and studious environment
- Make sure that the rules of Enfants du Mékong are respected (explain, control, and punish)
- Organization and participation of cultural and sportive activities during the weekends
- Daily management of the students (diseases, emotional moods, contacts with the families, quarrels, …)
- Required professional qualifications
- Cambodian nationality, between 22 & 35 years old
- Excellent capacity of organization and adaptation, being able to be “multitask”, flexible and rigorous
- Excellent communication and team work skills
- Aptitude to deal with social and childhood problems
- Preliminary experiment in the field (teaching, social, youth) would be appreciated
- Good spoken and written English. French is a plus
- Good knowledge about computer (Word, Excel, Access)
- Required personal soft skills
- Ability to listen and critical thinking
- Availability, sense of commitment, and dedication
- Being authoritarian, firm and diplomatic, and at the same time being able to establish trusting relationships with students, teachers and staffs
- Bring new ideas, be creative, take initiatives
- Want and love to spend time with the children, helping them becoming responsible adults
- Always have an exemplary behavior, and show integrity
Salary:
- An annual gross salary of 3600 USD
- The retirement of 10% is available after one year of service with EDM
